I'm in the trenches with you. When I photograph your family, I'm not trying to force a version of "picture perfect" that doesn't exist. Between my own kids' activities and years of experience with families of all ages and sizes, I know how to work with a toddler who won't sit still, a teenager who'd rather be anywhere else, and everyone in between without anyone feeling forced into it.

FAQ

What is the best age for family photos?

Any age works, honestly. Newborns, toddlers mid-tantrum, awkward teenage years. I've photographed all of it, and there's no "perfect" stage to wait for. Every age should be captured and passes before we know it.

What should our family wear?

I'll send you a style guide once you book, with color palette ideas that photograph well together without looking like you're all wearing uniforms.

Can we include pets, grandparents or extended family?

Absolutely. Multi-generation sessions and pets are always welcome. Just let me know when you book so I can plan enough time.

Do you help with posing?

Yes. You do not need to know what to do. I’ll guide you through posing, movement, and natural prompts the entire time.

Where do family sessions take place?

I shoot on location throughout Cedar Rapids, Marion, Center Point-Urbana, and the surrounding Eastern Iowa area as well as in my Central City studio. We will discuss options and make the decision about locations together.

How long does a session take?

Shorter sessions run about 30 minutes; full sessions run up to an hour or more, depending on family size and how many locations or outfit changes you'd like. I also offer seasonal 20 minute mini sessions in the fall, holiday time and spring.
